Sunderland hero Defoe: Now let's finish it
Sunderland hero Jermain Defoe is looking to finish off the Black Cats' survival mission by beating Everton on Wednesday.
The Wearsiders’ leading marksman ended his Stadium of Light drought by bagging the winner as Sunderland rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 down to beat Chelsea today.
A win over Everton in midweek will guarantee survival, and Defoe said: “It was a difficult game but we managed to do it. Unbelievable character from the boys, everyone worked hard. We have always been confident, never thought about being relegated.
“It’s not done yet. We must recover and we’ve got a big game on Wednesday.”
